So the court awarded you a civil money judgment. Now what? Contrary to some judgment creditors’ expectations, the judge does not send you a check in two weeks. Enforcement and recovery falls to the Judgment Creditor (you). But how do you go about locating bank accounts, brokerage accounts, real estate, vehicles, wages, rents, and other assets that might be used to satisfy the judgment? How do you negotiate the rough terrain of courtroom proceedings?

Judgment enforcement is a bit like panning for gold; you sift through a lot of sand and gravel before nuggets appear. Even then they sometimes slip away. Or, your pan may not contain any pay dirt after all. The process can be frustrating and time-consuming.

Under Title 9 of the California Code of Civil Procedures, an Original Judgment Creditor (you) can assign the rights to enforce a civil money judgment to a judgment recovery specialist (me). This gives the specialist the right to locate and levy on any assets that can be used to satisfy the judgment, draft and file the necessary court documents, and appear at court proceedings.

Lodestar Judgment Recovery offers without charge to Original Judgment Creditors a preliminary survey of the Judgment Debtor’s financial condition. Should the survey reveal that pursuing enforcement likely would be successful, the judgment can be assigned and enforcement of the judgment can proceed.
